# Application configuration

Configuration is loaded from `appsettings.json` (required, reloadable), `appsettings.Development.json` and environment variables through the default host builder. No secrets are stored in the repository.

## Application settings

`appsettings.Development.json` turns on `DetailedErrors`.

## Environment API

No Environment API keys are read from the application's source code. The application never calls `IEnvironmentClient` to read a setting. It only passes the client to the `DocumentsCoreClient` constructor in `Startup.cs`. Any Environment API keys in use are read inside the dependency packages (for example the inherited start-up and the API clients) and are not enumerated here.

## Developer settings

`developersettings.json` contains one API address entry for a test track. The `EnvApiDeveloperSettingsOverride` switch that would use it is commented out, so the file has no effect while the switch stays off.

## Build

The front-end style build is `gulp sass`, compiling `main.scss` to `css/main.css`. Dev dependencies are gulp, gulp-sass and sass. The `sass-kendo` task and `compilerconfig.json` are stale (TD-APP-013). NuGet package versions are listed in [Dependencies](dependencies.md).

## Start-up options

`Startup` sets `EnableNewtonsoftJsonSerializer` and `EnableSessionMiddleware` to true. The NDReimbursement API client timeout is 300 seconds. See [Architecture](architecture.md).
